Features of cement-retained prosthetic
ADVANTAGES
• No access holes on the occlusal surface
Rejection for the need to create access holes on the occlusal or labial will result in a more aesthetically pleasing result. This is particularly advantageous in the anterior.
• Usage of techniques which are similar to traditional bridges techniques
Undoubted appeal denture cement-retained are a similarity fixation techniques with the traditional technique of crowns and bridges fixation.
• Possibility of passive landing is not necessary as in screw-retained prosthesis
Disadvantages of superstructure landing are adjusted. One can argue with the opinion that the superstructure should not just put, because in the process of cementing lack of precision will be adjusted layer of cement. Correct deficiency can be very difficult or impossible without removing the prosthesis and recementing, sometimes even without damaging it.
DISADVANTAGES
• Replacement is more complex
The main drawback is the difficulty of the prosthesis removal, as even temporary cement can harden after some time.
• Increasing the clinical and laboratory work
• Cementing process requires control
During cementing procedure excess cement can sometimes get deep into the adjacent soft tissues, significantly affecting the condition of the mucous membrane and alveolar bone.
• Increased cost of work.
